I am a childminder based in South Willesborough in Ashford, Kent. We are a welcoming and friendly setting. We work to provide a stimulating, warm and well-rounded service. We like to take children out to explore the outdoors as much as we can and offer a wide range of activities for all ages. I work with an assistant which enhances the service for families and children by having two adults on hand who are fully trained to level 3 in childcare. Childminding is on the ground floor of the house this consists of a playroom, bathroom, kitchen dining area and secure garden.

30 Hours Extended Entitlement
- 30 Hours Partner Details (These are details of any other childcare provider(s) that this provider will work with to offer the 30 hours entitlement)
I offer up to 30 funded hours to 3-year-olds and 15 hours to 2-year-olds. This is subject to availability and child's entitlement.
I offer two patterns of delivery, which is term-time for 38 weeks of the year and stretched, which is 48 weeks of the year.
What to expect
Your child will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities that cover all areas of learning, including Music time, Cooking, Painting, Building, Puzzles and much more. We know children learn both indoors and outdoors so we endeavour to ensure that children have plenty of learning opportunities both indoors and outdoors. We have membership to the Rare Breeds Centre, Wildwood and English Heritage. We go to the woods, parks, library and soft play centres.
We use an on-line system to share information with yourself and make observations which help us track your child’s learning journey.
Patterns for delivery are given out as soon as possible before the start of September each year but I usually take four weeks’ holiday and these usually are within school holidays. If, on the odd occasion, my holiday does not fall within the holidays, the funded hours will be added on at the end of the year. If your child is off ill or on holiday, these days are not transferable. In the event of closure of the setting due to illness, I will offer alternative days wherever possible to make up the funded hours.
What is included
I include a variety of health food, including lunch and snacks although you are welcome to provide a healthy packed lunch if you prefer. All outings are offered to all children and parents are not asked to contribute towards these costs.
Parents are asked to provide a water bottle, adequate outdoor clothing, including footwear, nappies and wipes. I do not ask parents for a voluntary contribution.

Special Needs Support
How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
Through observing, assessing and planning for your child in partnership with yourself we build a good understanding of a child and are able to monitor if a child is at an expected level. Three times a year we will do a progress review which will also give you the opportunity to make any comments. We will also discuss any concerns we have with you throughout the year.
How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
Ways we are supporting your child will be communicated to you in a variety of was
- Involving you in developing a Universal or Targeted plan for your child.
- Sharing there on line contact diary where we can send messages.
- Verbally at the door at pick up time.
How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
All children are planned for as an individual and based on interests, level of development and ability.
What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
We use any strategies that we think will help a child participate, engage and succeed. These have ranged from using visual and audio equipment sensory toys, weighted blankets and calming spaces for one.
What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
We have supported children by working with other professionals such as occupational therapy, speech and language and adoption services by adding activities recommended by other professionals in to the child’s planning.
How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
We complete on going observations and you have access to these on line as they are up loaded. In addition we complete three progress reviews per year. You have the opportunity to add your own observations from home and comment on any observations made.
How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
I ensure that children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activity by either adapting the activity or the environment, for example, raising a table to wheel chair height, supplying ear defenders where needed, and adult support is provided.
How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
Childminding takes place on the ground floor and there are no stairs in childminding areas. There is a step out into the garden, which would easily fit a ramp.
How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
I fill out a transition form for any child leaving my care and also pass my details on to the new setting.
How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
We are continuously assessing what and where we can do better and make changes as areas of improvement are identified. Once a year, parents are asked to fill in a questionnaire regarding all elements of my setting.
Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?
Please contact myself, Carly Browne
What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?
I have a complaints procedure and a questionnaire for parents and children to fill in. I also promote a friendly but professional relationship with parents so they feel comfortable in giving honest feedback.
