Maidstone Mencap: Summer Holiday Activity Club

During the summer month of August, we run a social fun activity club for children and young people from the age of 4.5 to 18plus. We are open Monday to Thursday with the days run alternately with the young children 4.5-11, and then the young people 12plus. Our days will be between the hours of 10am and 3pm.

All the children will have a key worker to ensure that their indivdual needs can be met, and a one to one carer to support their personal and social interactions throughout their day with us.

The children will have the consistency of knowing that the fun and social activites are based from our hall, in the grounds of mote park. We have planned activities in the hall with visitors coming to us, which for example can include animals,or bugs, magic and music, or our local police or fire brigade.  We are able to take the children out within the park community, visiting the miniature railway, to go swimming or to go the different play areas and walks.

Our management and key worker teams have training to ensure that individual medical and self care plans can be met, including first aid, adminstration of emergency medications, PEG feeding, safeguarding, manual handling and hoisting.
