Towers Tiny Tots Pre School

Towers Tiny Tots Pre-school is a term time only setting housed in a local Kennington, community hall. It offers sessional care for 2-4 year olds, Monday to Friday 9 am to 3.30pm. We are a small friendly team made up of highly qualified and experienced early years practitioners. We offer a care and education facility lead by the early years foundation stage framework. Our children are taught and learn through well planned and resourced play experiences. We pride our self in being fully inclusive and support all children to progress through the 7 areas of the EYFS. Our experienced SENDCO uses outside agencies and referral systems to support those children with additional needs to grow and flourish.

In addition we run an after school club from 3.30-5.30pm for local primary school children. We collect from Goat Lees Primary school but any school is welcome to use the facility.

We accept childcare voucher schemes to aid payment of fees.  We offer free ealy education places for 2, 3 and 4  year olds.  Additional hours to the 15 universal hours or 30 extended hours are charged at £7 an hour.

Description

Here at Towers Tiny Tots, we aim to provide universal provision, aiming to support children of all abilities and development capabilities by considering the unique child.

We provide communication boards, visual aids and the use of Makaton for every single child that attends the setting, giving everyone the same opportunity to communicate with us regardless of different languages and communication difficulties.

We use the ECAT techniques with every child to support them to further their language, adding words and repeating back to each child; we use statements rather than asking a lot of questions.

For children with additional needs, these are quickly identified, and we put in place targeted and personalised support as required, working with outside professionals to provide these children with appropriate support. We follow the SEND code of practice and use SENIF and DAF where necessary to support children.

Special Needs Support

Our trained and experienced practitioners will discuss with the setting SENDCo any concerns regarding SEND as a result of observations and planning. This will then be shared with the parents and a targeted plan will be put into place using the best practice guidance as a guide. This plan will allow us to explore the nature of your child's needs. If progress is still not made once the targets have been set and explored. We will make a referral to LIFT which is the local inclusion forum team, at this meeting your child's specific needs will be discussed with other professionals such as specialist teachers, speech and language therapist, education psychologists and other early year’s practitioners. As a result of this meeting outside professionals may decide to meet your child within the setting or make further referrals to support your child's progress and development.

Parents will be informed and be fully engaged with the setting and outside agencies in the developing and maintaining of targets and plans required for your child.

The environment and experiences the setting offers are differentiated for all children and we plan for individual children’s needs and age and stage. Our daily plans ensure all staff are aware of the differentiated learning which is to take place.

We follow the EYFS curriculum, using the development matter to plan our curriculum, and the characteristics of effective learning to inform teaching. We use interventions such as talk boost, and the ECAT techniques to support children with early communication difficulties. Furthermore we hold stay and plays to keep in touch with parents throughout this process.

The setting provides additional support using targeted and personalised interventions to support children with additional needs to overcome difficulties and close the gap between them and their peers. These will be shared with the parent.

We use termly summaries which are available in the children's learning journey's, as well as recording wow moments. These are then shared with the parents who have the opportunity to add anything else. Wow moments, and individual planning will focus on the child's unique targets and outcomes. Furthermore, progress is assessed on targeted and personalised plans with the support of the parent, key person, SENCO, and other professionals involved.

We utilise additional funding streams to ensure augmented care is provided to ensure the children with SEND are involved in all the setting has to offer. Differentiation will be used in the setting to ensure that children all have the same opportunities to join in.

The building has larger doors at all exits for those with mobility difficulties and our setting is only on a ground floor level. We use yellow markings where there are steps to ensure these can be seen by all. For children with mobility difficulties, a health care plan will be completed in agreement with the parent/carer, and a peep will be made available to support in the event of a fire.

With all children we make contact with all transition schools and settings to share as much information as possible about the children's development and care needs. Transition primary schools often visit the setting and we share observations and techniques to support your child in their new school. The children with have a transition booklet which will be sent to the school, where parents also have the opportunity to contribute.

As part of the review process for targeted and personalised support, we will involve parents/carers in the  evaluation to allow us to note the impact of the support given to individuals with specific needs. The setting also offers parents the opportunity to use parental feedback questionnaires.

Please contact the setting via email or telephone to arrange an initial visit, receive a prospectus and complete a waiting list form.

We are always grateful of any feedback.  Although we are confident you will be happy with what Towers Tiny Tots has to offer, we are also aware that there are occasions when something is not quite right. Our leaders are always available to talk to you regarding anything you are not completely satisfied with and will explore this further and offer you some feedback. The setting has a complaints procedure which is available to you at any time in the policy folder.
