Local Offer
- Description
New House Nursery is a fully inclusive setting that offers a wealth of learning opportunities to maximise the learning outcomes of all of the children in its care regardless of individual needs and abilities. New House works closely with parents and outside agencies to provide a curriculum that suits your child's individual needs.
Special Needs Support
How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
All children are observed and assessed with a view to 'early intervention' being the best outcome for the child. Any child identified as having any SEND or barriers to their learning will be referred back to their HV or taken to a LIFT meeting for additional support from other health and educational professionals.
How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
Through regular meetings. Targeted and Personalised plans will be drawn up by the SENCo and Key Person and any other outside agencies involved to support your child's learning and development.
How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
By differentiating what is planned.
What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
A wide range of strategies will be used depending on your child's need. These may include:
Visuals
Makaton
Communication Boards
Objects of reference
Hand over Hand
What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
We can only work within the ratios we offer and provide a curriculum that is best suited to your child. However this isn't suitable for all children with SEND and it should be recognised that some children will need intensive specialist support that cannot be offered within our setting.
How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
Through assessment, report writing, updating of plans and regular meetings.
Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?
The Principal, Miss Jane Hicks. Please see our website.
