Our highly trained SENCO works in partnership with the keyworker, the child's family and support agencies to identify additional needs or SEND. All children and tracked for progress and development, if we identified the need for further discussion and support we would work quickly to ensure the child's needs are met.

Tapestry Learning Journals, enteries are made every week for each child.  More frequently for full time or 4 days per week children.

Daily hand overs and contact books.

Parent consulations three times a year.

Observations and Next Steps are made weekly.

We focus on each child's personal interests, extending their learning through this.

Early learning goals are part of our daily planning. We work from the EYFS for observations and Next Steps for each child.

One to One support can be offered. We have a highly trained SENCO.  Our staff attend regular training specific to our current children. We all work as a team to put our training experience together to support each of our children.

Our highly trained SENCO tracks the progress of each individual child with additional needs or SEND. The SENCO works with the child's keyworker, family and specific support agengies to ensure the child's individual needs are being met.

We have daily management meetings to handover children's needs.  Planning for trips and activities to be inclusive are discussed here, solutions are created to ensure staff, children and parents feel included and happy about the childcare we provide. Risk assessements are made and ratios are increased where necessary.  We would ask for family support for trips as we have a great relationship with families. If necessary we would consult with specialist teaching and learning services.

Very accessible.  We have had ramps built and are laying a new path. Staff ratios would increase to support the child.

We have appointed an Early Years Coordinator.  The position supports the children in preparing for transition, focusing on early learning goals, development of key skills and school transition. We also visit local primary schools and they come here. Some of the areas we work on are:

  • Recognising and writing their own name
  • Counting to 20 and recognising the numbers
  • Learning the alphabet in upper and lowercase, and being able to associate words with each letter.
  • Recognising colours and shapes.
  • Making sure that children are able to go to the bathroom themselves and dress themselves.
  • Understanding some boundaries.
  • Organising trips and outings to enhance the learning of preschool aged children.
  • Learning how to use a knife and fork.

We would support the children in achieving these, extending these skills where children show ability, motivating and encouraging those that find them more challenging.  Always focusing on a love for learning with us and their peers, helping the children flourish at their own pace with enthusiasmWe are aiming for your children to enter their new school confident and a step ahead of the rest!

We offer an annual parent survey where families can offer feedback.  We also have a suggestion book for annoymous comments if parents prefer this. A meeting can be arranged with the SENCO or the Manager for specific discussions.
