We are a local Community Incorporated Organisation with charitable status and provide day care services for adults with moderate learning disabilities, SEMH and ASD, we are based between an allotment on Dane Valley Allotments and Dane Valley Woods, Margate, Kent. We provide natural arts and crafts, cooking, budgeting and independence skills, horticulture experience including copicing, silvestre and woodland experience. We also provide work experience for young people, forest school experiences for children and young people. We work closely with local schools, post 16 providers of education and local children's nurseries. We are in the process of planting 280 trees and natural shrubs. All our staff are qualified to a minimum of level 3 either in care or education and our manager was a tutor at Hadlow College, teaching horticulture. All staff have current DBS checks and all have experience of working with children, families, young people and adults with learning difficulties and social, emotional, metal health and challenging behaviour, however we are unable to meet the needs of participants who need to be restrained. We have links to creative artists and also local businesses who provide pottery experiences, art projects which we can engage in. Forest school ethos is very much person centred and allows the person regardless of age problems solve and experience success through their own merit. However all our participants need to be fully mobile and continent. Unfortunately we cannot take profound, multiple learning difficulties or severe learning difficulties as we do not have wheelchair access, we do not restrain so cannot provide support for participants who need to be restrained or who have medical needs require nursing, 1:1 or medical support.
There is a compost toilet which is up 4 steps. opposite our base and all our horticulture is organic and eco friendly. We also run open days, family fun days and community tree planting days.
