Special Needs Support

Our setting has a qualified and experienced teacher with an Honours degree in childhood studies. With over 25 years experience in childcare and education, I have the knowledge and skills to identify any early additional learning needs including behavioural issues, speech and language and communication problems.

We have assessment procedures in place and use a system which sends development and progress updates about your child direct to your email.

We plan activities based on the children's interests and link them to the EYFS outcomes. All activities are differentiated to meet the needs of all age ranges and abilities in the setting so that all the children are included and can achieve.

We are fully trained and experienced with working with children with additional needs. We offer sensory experiences, non verbal clues and use many other strategies depending on the child's needs.

We use the Famly form of assessment in the setting which links directly to the EYFS curriculum. Parents have direct links to their child's progress through an online link which is secure and private.
Parents can view photographs and annotated notes about their child's progress and whether or not their child is secure or developing in all areas.

We offer visits to the setting from teachers of the school that your child will be attending, we have a "Going to school" theme during the last term where we plan activities and role play experiences all about going to school, we contact the schools to give them information about the child and complete any questionnaires, we make visual aids to prepare for school and transition books.
