Special Needs Support
How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
During initial meetings I discuss with parents where they believe their child is at developmentally currently to give me an idea of starting points I also give them a blank age related tracker to fill in at home.
How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
I update via WhatsApp and babysdays if any concerns arise I will ask parents to come in for a chat.
How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
Activities planned would be arranged to be accessible to all children in my care.
What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
All children have different needs so I would adapt to meet each child's individual needs.
What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
Plans will be made with parents/carers to ensure the support provided meets the individuals needs to benefit the child with their progress.
How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
Photos and observations are added to babysdays and or WhatsApp regularly to update with the child's progress.
How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
I undertake risk assessments for each outing and activity these would be adjusted as to the child's needs.
How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
The house has 1 step to enter and also 2 steps to the main outdoor play space. I do have a downstairs toilet.
How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
Transition reports are provided for the new setting/school before they start.
How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
I send annual questionnaires to parents/carers to provide feedback on the effectiveness of the care I provide I also offer the opportunity for parents to discuss this with me at any time.

Amy Walker.
