Special Needs Support
How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
I do learning journals for children up to the time they start primary school. This helps me to identify any additional needs and enables me to plan appropriate activities.
How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
The learning journals are shared with parents and can be shared with other professionals if required. I can offer meetings to discuss children’s development and progress. I will work closely with parents and the local children’s services to ensure all children get the best help and support when needed.
How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
The curriculum will be followed and adapted to individual children’s needs by ways of simplifying activities or extending them.
What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
I can offer advice and support for parents, giving them examples of how to help their children outside of the setting as well as showing them the tactics i use within it.
What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
I am available to offer statements and attend meetings with other professionals in order to support children and their families if needed.
How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
Learning journals are used to monitor children progress.
How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
I work with an assistant who can accompany me on trips and during activities which ensures that all children are able to take part.
How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
Unfortunately I have no ramp for wheelchair users.
How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
I work closely with the local nurseries and schools, which helps children transitions between them.
How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
I use OFSTED’s Self- assessment tool to evaluate my practice as well as handing out child and parent questionnaires.
Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?
Jennifer
What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?
Parent questionaires are sent out yearly and i have a complaints policy in place
