Description

I work closely with all children and their families and will cater for and offer support where it is needed. My aim as a childminder is to provide children with a safe environment where they can learn through their play and make friends.

Special Needs Support

I continuously monitor children in my care by using the EYFS and observing and providing children with their next steps in terms of development. At the age of two years, all children have a two year check which is a mandatory assessment.

Within the first 4 weeks of a child starting with me I observe the child to record their starting points in their development.

I work closely with all my families. I use a day diary with all my babies and pre schoolers to write down our activities and the child's achievements. Parents are invited to comment and write freely in there on any upcoming appointments or holidays. I also talk informally each day too. The children are monitored and observed using the EYFS. This is all put into the child's profile which is seen by the parents once a term. Parents are welcomed to talk to me at anytime about concerns or worries they may have about their child.

As a childminder we have to use the EYFS to observe, plan and provide next steps for each child. These are carried out using the three prime areas and the four specific areas.

All children are different and unique and learn at different times. Using my knowledge of each child I can engage the children in different ways in the same activity. Children are provided with opportunities within the community attending local toddler groups and attending rhyme time in our local library and using the facilities to choose their own books. We also gain life skills by going shopping and learning about keeping ourselves safe when we are out on trips. The aim is for the children to be happy and confident in all that they do and achieve.

When there is a concern for with a child who isn't progressing as they potentially should. I will talk with the parents about how to help their child and with permission I will refer your child to outside agencies to access the help required.

As I work closely with parents and have formed good relationships with the children in my care. I carry out regular observations and write reports on their development. A two year check will be carried out. All children's profiles are seen by their parents once a term. Parents are welcomed to share observations they have seen at home, parents are also welcomed to talk to anytime about their child.

All my activities and opportunities can be adapted to suit all children, so they can take part and share the same experiences as each other.

Sadly my house is not on one level and not suitable for anyone who is reliant on a wheel chair or who has problems moving independently. I have a large living space with a downstairs toilet.

All relevant paperwork for the child can be passed onto the new setting or school. If asked by the parents I am happy to meet the teachers to share information on your child.

Parents are asked to complete a questionnaire on my service once a year,  there is the opportunity for parents to share their views. From this I can reflect on my service I provide and consider further training I would like to do.

Parents can contact myself to arrange to a meeting.

All my policies are available at anytime for parents to read upon request. I use my annual questionnaire and can make time to talk to parents about their child at a mutually agreed time. I speak daily to my families as well as using day diaries as forms of communication too.
