Notes

Hunton Pre-School is a home from home learning environment for your child, providing excellent quality care and learning with an experienced and friendly staff team. We are a small charitable organisation with a parent run committee. Our aim is to provide exciting, varied and fun learning with an emphasis on exploring and learning through play.  We are also lucky enough to have access to a lovely garden and surrounding fields - which we regularly use for scavenger hunts, games and exploring.

We also offer weekly French lessons, Active Tots and a cookery class.

We open at 9am to offer an earlier drop-off for parents, at a cost of £1 per child, per day.

Special Needs Support

Our system of observation and record keeping, which operates in conjunction with parents, enables us to monitor childrens needs and progress on an individual basis.

Parents are involved in all areas of learning for all children.  We use a graduated response system for identifying, assessing and responding to chidrens special educations needs.  Parents thoughts, ideas and experiences will be called upon for the development and inclusion of any targeted plans and parents permission will always be sought  We work closely with parents to maintain positive partnerships

We provide a dfferentiated curriculum to meet individual needs and abiities working towards the early learning goals

The support offered and strategies used vary according to a childs individual needs.  We use lots of visual aids and keep our language simple, clear and at a child level.   Making sure staff training is up to date.  We have an open door policy and fully encourage parents to be involved in all planning and reporting.  Parents can access and contribute to their childs learning journal adding events happening at home and any new information can be reported. We use Makaton signing, lots of visual supports, targeted planning to ensure all activities are challenging but achievable.

Augmenting staffing ensures that all activities are accessible and safe for all children. All staff are Makaton trained and all use personal visual cards.  The type of support offered varies in line with a childs need.  All support is targeted towards an individual child

We have regular liaisons with parents and their input is always requested.  We perform regular observations that track a childs progress and will highlight any area of need.  We will then use a targeted and personalised approach and parents are involved in this planning and evaluation process.  These plans are reviewed and updated every 6 weeks and parents voice is requested for all of the processes.  We hold regular staff meetings where we discuss progress and future planning to ensure continuity.  With parental permission and should the need arise we will obtain instruction from external advice ie speech and language.

All activities can be adapted to meet childs needs.  We manage this by performing risk assessments and planning, this ensures that we break down any barriers to learning, if needed we can access and utilise any additional funding to ensure this happens.

We have a ramp in and out of the building.  Disabled toilets available.  We have various levelled tables and chairs and no area is seperated by stairs.

We will attend any transition meetings with all schools.  We provide transitions reports and copies of any care, personalised or targetted plans we have been using.  Staff from any new setting are welcome here and will be invited to see the child at play.

We hold regular meetings and attend up to date training to ensure that the provision we provide is up to date and efficient.  Parents will be contacted every 6 weeks to ensure they are happy with the provisions provided.

We have an open door policy which offers transparency.   We have a complaints procedure which insures that any complaint is dealt with efficiently and effectively.  We have a review section on both our website and Facebook page.  Tapestry has the facility for parents to give feedback on each observation and as a general thought.
