Employment Support Service which enables individuals with a learning disability or difficulty to gain paid employment or unpaid work experience in the open market, as well as supported internships, traineeships or apprenticeships.
The 52 week programme includes the following;
- Peer support workshops and skills development training which would focus on travel training and keeping safe; appropriate behaviours in the workplace; dealing with bullying & harassment; learning about equality, diversity & discrimination; communicating with others & building relationship; time management; money management; confidence & motivation
- Pre employment training, either on a 1-2-1 basis or group workshops covering interview skills; CV writing; exploring job opportunities; working as part of a team; working under supervision; workplace rights & responsibilities.
- Mencap will provide an employer engagement and job brokerage service to support finding appropriate job opportunities.
- In work support or buddying service through access to work to fully support each individual in the workplace.
