I live with my husband, Ian, and two children, Charlotte (11 yrs) and Elijah (8 yrs), and a very friendly Cocker Spaniel, Sam. We live in Cambrian Road (TN4)
I have completed my level 3 qualification in Home-based Childcare and regularly update my professional knowledge and understanding by undertaking training sessions run by PACEY (my professional body), the Tunbridge Wells Childminding Association and Kent County Council.
About my setting:
I aim to provide a home from home setting where all the children are offered a welcoming and secure environment in which to thrive emotionally and developmentally, with lots of cuddles and love. I work in partnership with parents to provide as much consistency as possible for the children between their home and my setting. I like to include parents in their child's day by writing in their daily diary about our activities and how their child has been feeling that day. I use an online programme called Tapestry to log observations and assessments, and post pictures for the parents to access at any time through their own login (NB. This is a secure website, registered with the Information Commissioners Office, and only accessible to the parents of that child).
I am an Ofsted registered PACEY member able to provide daytime, after-school and wrap-around care for children aged 6months to school age.
I am able to provide the Early Years Free Entitlement to all 3 and 4 year old children either as sole provider or in conjunction with a pre-school or nursery. I am also able to offer places for Early Education for 2 year olds (this is a needs based placement and only applies if you receive certain benefits).
Activities and Experiences:
As a registered childminder I am obligated to follow the Early Years Outcomes guidelines to guide my observations, assessments and planning. However, as an individual setting I choose to base our routine around the Montessori method of encouraging children to learn through a freedom of choice of activities within a prescribed curriculum.
All planned activities are based on the the children's interests at an age and stage appropriate level. We love to investigate our natural world with woodland walks and trips to the park, and make visits to many local attractions as well as those further afield. I hold memberships for both National Trust and English Heritage, so we make as much use of those as possible, especially when the weather co-operates!
We have recently completed a purpose-built playhouse (insulated and heated) specifically for my childminding business which we use as a playroom. Our back garden is completely decked for safety and we love to do a bit of gardening back there. We attend regular toddler groups throughout the week and have outdoor play in all weather!
We also love messy play! Crafts, play-doh, finger painting, sand and water play are all incorporated into our routine as all these are fantastic, fun activities that encourage the physical development of your child.
I provide fresh, home-made meals for all the children – organic if possible, as we receive a weekly delivery from Riverford Organic Farms. All dietary options can be catered for so please enquire if this is of interest.
I am able to drop off and pick up from St Luke's, Little Cottage (AM only) or Little Owls pre-schools and St John's Primary School.
Evening babysitting in your home or provide overnight care in my home (up to 2 children) if available.
We are a 7 minute walk from the High Brooms Train Station and have unrestricted parking in our road.
