Special Needs Support
How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
Through regular observations and assessment, discussion with parents, LIFT meetings and outside agencies.
How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
Through regular parent consultation about their child's development.
How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
We are a small setting who know each child extremely well and are able to adapt the environment and curriculum to meet every childs individual needs.
What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
Observations and assessments of each child are recorded in an online learning journal om tapestry. Every parent can access their own child's learning journal from their home computer, tablet or phone, where they can see what the child has been interested in, learning and achieving. Termly progress reports are also uploaded to each childs account for parents to view. Parents will also be invited in to discuss their child progress at the end of each term (3 times a year). During the term parents and carers are encouraged to add anything new their child has enjoyed doing at home or a special event/ celebration through their online tapestry account. Parent information sessions will be held at the beginning of each academic year to explain how to use the online learning journal or parents/carers will be given an opportunity to ask for guidance in this at their child's progress meeting.
