New family adventure game to suit children and young people of all abilities

…Where the mermaid’s splash, the fairies giggle and Peter and the lost boys go on daring adventures!  Head2Head is bringing you a brand new, interactive adventure game to play in your own home, where you and your family become characters in the world of Peter Pan.  Together you will solve puzzles and riddles and carry out tasks in different parts of Neverland so you can return safely home after a magical adventure.

The game is multi-layered to suit a wide range of abilities. It comes in the form of a printable PDF booklet which will act as the guide for your journey: it has things to cut out / colour-in, as well as suggestions of household objects to find and use throughout the experience. This is paired with a YouTube play-list on our channel, including crafting instructions, songs and some of your favourite characters.

“A great game that we’ll definitely play again. Would also work well as a party/ play date/ sensory session for a group of friends or a school.” [Parent]

Only £10 (Includes p&p and USB dongle)

The game will be sent to the address on your Paypal account. If you want the film sent to a different address please email office@h2hsensorytheatre.com

In this pack you will find a list of bits and bobs you need to get ready in advance.  You then just grab your props and join in the fun!  Prefer a treasure-hunt style version?  All you have to do is wait until you reach a moment when an actor asks you to find something and invites you to ‘press pause’ – then you can start the hunt.  Perhaps you can even become Merlin the Magician!

Head2Head Theatre

Head2Head Theatre is a charity that tours throughout South East England providing entertainment that everyone can enjoy, irrespective of age or stage of development.

We offer half-day fun in which the whole family may share.  Multi-sensory walkabout performance with lunchtime activities (sensory tent, craft activities and games).

We also offer familiarisation lunchtime sessions for children/young people with ASD where they can explore the sets, meet the characters and then decide whether or not they wish to stay on for the performance.  This session also includes lunchtime activities (sensory tent, craft and games).

We also offer term-time multi-sensory shows, immersive experiences, pantomimes and mask workshops.

At Christmas time we offer a public pantomime that is multi-sensory and accessible for children and young people with a wide range and varied levels of disabilities which they can enjoy with their families.  (Please note this is a sit-down performance but, as with all our shows, the actors will expect the children to express themselves in whatever way they wish]

We will send you a preparation pack with symbol storyline and songs, photographs of cast and sets.  Backstage familiarisation visits are also offered before each show to allay any anxieties.

Our special school venues are safe, quiet and secure with accessible parking.  Each venue also provides hoist and changing bed facilities.

Registered charity no. 1161873, serving the special needs' community since 2006

The Hopshed Theatre Company - The Symbol Trust

Fridays @ The Hazlitt Theatre, Maidstone

Inspired by a love of all things theatre and frustrated by the lack of performance opportunities available for people with learning disabilities to devise, create and perform alongside their non disabled peers, The Hopshed Theatre Company was launched by The Symbol Trust in 2013.

Led by The Hop Shed Theatre’s highly experienced and enthusiastic staff, The Hop Shed’s creative and artistic workshops are specifically designed to encourage members to make friends, develop new skills and grow in confidence in a vibrant, inclusive and uplifting environment.

The Hop Shed Theatre Company is:

  • Totally inclusive – The Hop Shed Theatre Company is made up of over 60 people with and without disabilities, who work together as genuine equals

  • Challenging and fun – the majority of the productions have big messages delivered with high energy, accompanied with a real sense of fun

  • Adopts a broad and ever-growing range of multi-media to both grab audiences in fresh ways and enable everybody, no matter what their disability or otherwise, to fully participate

Maidstone Mencap: Summer Holiday Activity Club

During the summer month of August, we run a social fun activity club for children and young people from the age of 4.5 to 18plus. We are open Monday to Thursday with the days run alternately with the young children 4.5-11, and then the young people 12plus. Our days will be between the hours of 10am and 3pm.

All the children will have a key worker to ensure that their indivdual needs can be met, and a one to one carer to support their personal and social interactions throughout their day with us.

The children will have the consistency of knowing that the fun and social activites are based from our hall, in the grounds of mote park. We have planned activities in the hall with visitors coming to us, which for example can include animals,or bugs, magic and music, or our local police or fire brigade.  We are able to take the children out within the park community, visiting the miniature railway, to go swimming or to go the different play areas and walks.

Our management and key worker teams have training to ensure that individual medical and self care plans can be met, including first aid, adminstration of emergency medications, PEG feeding, safeguarding, manual handling and hoisting.

Junior Gateway is a leisure group that meets on a Saturday morning in term-time at our hall. We have two age groups that meet on alternate weeks; 5-10 year-olds and 11-15 year-olds. We have 15 children in each age group which is the right number to create a buzz but still enable us to create space for children if they are overwhelmed and need some quiet time.

Junior Gateway a specialist club and offers places to children with a learning disability who have additional needs such as a physical disability, medical need, PEG feeding, behaviour that challenges or communication difficulties.

Due to the high level of need for each child, everyone attending has a 1:1 volunteer helper. We recruit and train the volunteer helpers. Training includes Safeguarding, Communication Skills, and Positive Behavioural Support. Supervisors have First Aid qualifications and are trained to administer emergency epilepsy medications and to do administer  PEG feeding.

We offer various activities at the club including cooking, art and crafts, Wii, toys, and lego. We have a sensory room and soft play area, ball pool and a small garden.

Viewings to our Provision can be arranged by appointment. Please call or email.  Our chosen site is based in the rural setting of Borough Green. The outdoor potential allows concentration on a unique outdoor learning environment which relies on working with nature.

The venue is ‘unique’ which is a significant growing requirement for Special Educational Needs & Disabilities support, within the surrounding areas of Kent. It is set within an ideal location for the catchment area and offers ideal community areas (local shops/church/markets) etc, all forming part of the life skill opportunities we hope to incorporate to our future services.

We are a day service provider, offering Well-being interventions and Out of Term Time Shortbreak activities for children and young people with additional needs. Particularly those with Speech, Language and communication needs, are on the Autistic Spectrum or with associated needs. Our project aims to provide holistic activities and interventions for each individual, by way of referral process.

The activities we offer are set within a beautiful rural, natural environment where outdoor learning can be appreciated. Additional indoor activities are also available, some of a therapeutic nature.

Our approach and interventions, use the nature of horticulture, recreation and other land based activities to provide well-being development and support to children and young people with SEND, assisting with their social, emotional and personal development, as well as improve their academic outcomes, either by re-engaging them back into education or offering an alternative delivery for learning. We inspire children and young adults to be able to excel more from hands on experiences that engages and focuses them, encouraging life skills.

Facilities include:

Separate Hubs, offering Therapeutic activities, opportunites to connect, creative activities, Skills for Life and Nature based learning.

SPACE 2 BE ME

SPACE 2 BE ME is a charity that supports children and young people with disabilities and additional needs and their families. The charity covers Maidstone and its surrounding areas.

---------------------------------------------

Space 2 Be Me was set up in 2011 by a group of parents to support families in Maidstone with disabled children who wanted to access local advice and support.

Space 2 Be Me continues to be a parent led charity; the majority of our Trustees are parents of children with disabilities.

We have a growing membership of families and it is important to us that we continually check with our families that we are delivering or planning to deliver the services and activities that they need the most. We carry out a formal survey every year and regularly consult with parents informally about our work. We now have a young person who consults with the children and young people who attend our clubs, so that we get the children’s view point too.

As a result the service provided by Space 2 Be Me has evolved and grown over the years.
